Workshops
ABOUT US
Sprite Productions, founded in 2004, produces
Shakespeare’s plays in both an exciting and
accessible way.
Sprite is dedicated to producing high quality
site-specific Shakespeare in the beautiful
gardens of Ripley Castle, North Yorkshire.
From A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2005 to
Twelfth Night in 2008, Sprite’s
Shakespearian productions have been seen by
over 5000 pupils. Since 2005 the creative team
at Sprite has been rapidly expanding and
directors, designers and actors have been
coming straight fromthe National Theatre,
the RSC and theWest End.
SPRITE EDUCATION
Sprite Productions firmly believe that it is
important to encourage students to take an
active interest in Shakespeare’s plays. In 2008 we offered workshops for Key Stages 3, 4 & 5 in schools in and around Yorkshire. These workshops were practically based, using the nature of live performance to encourage both understanding and enjoyment of Shakespeare.
In 2009 we will be running more workshops to encourage and inspire young people. We believe that Shakespeare’s work is best taught practically rather than theoretically.
For 2009 we are offering workshops on the following texts:
- Romeo and Juliet
- A Midsummer Night’s Dream
- The Tempest
Workshops can cater for a maximum of 35 pupils and length can be tailored to suit your schools timetable. Through practical based activities the workshops will explore:
- Plotline and structure
- Language accessibility
- Character
- Revealing Shakespeare in its simplest form
We will also cover any specific areas you wish
your students to develop.
The fee for the workshop will be:
One hour workshop: £200
Two hour workshop: £300

We also offer vocational experience for any young people interested in theatre and wanting to be part of a fun and encouraging team for four weeks during the summer, whether it is back stage, costume or front of house - contact us to find out more.
